Knowledge Circle

FIRST OF ITS KIND
The First Nations Knowledge Circle is a nationally significant project. More than just an advisory group, the Knowledge Circle aims to develop a new mode of governance that incorporates First Nations voice, perspective and ways of working into an existing Western organisational governance structure.
This new "third space" is the first of its kind and a critical next step on the path to a more inclusive and integrated approach to organisational governance and leadership.
A NATIONAL APPROACH
The Knowledge Circle is a cohort of nine First Nations leaders and arts practitioners from across the country, engaged to work alongside Regional Arts Australia to ensure that First Nations voice, protocols and ways of working are embedded in the foundations of Regional Arts Australia. This First Nations-led initiative aims to build creative connections and networks that span geographies and landscapes.
The First Nations Knowledge Circle represents a new approach to governance and organisational leadership - one that is culturally informed, with targets and strategies purposefully designed and delivered in ways that share knowledge and facilitate exchange with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. A First Nations-led project means staying current and informed about what works in delivering positive outcomes.

ENGAGE & CONNECT
Grounded in co-design, the Knowledge Circle convenes peer-led facilitation and provides mental health first aid and First Nations cultural safety protocols across Regional Arts Australia's programs and events.
Elevating First Nations perspectives and operating from a position of cultural safety, the Knowledge Circle centres First Nations voices. Members are available individually and collectively to support organisations in navigating cross-cultural governance, side by side. Based across the country, their experiences are invaluable on selection panels and committees.
