PRACTICE IN COMMUNITY
To be eligible to apply for Practice in Community there are three areas to check:
1) About your location:
The Practice in Community program uses the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) Remoteness Structure to determine regional location eligibility. To check if you or your project location is eligible, simply enter your location using the tool below:

This tool checks whether the location entered is not classified as a Major City of Australia

- To check your community location: enter the suburb and state of your community.
Great news, your location is eligible
For a location to be eligible for Practice in Community it must be outside of a “Major City of Australia” as defined by the
Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS)
Sorry, your location is not eligible.

2) About you:
- Are you an Australian citizen or permanent resident?
- Are you over 18?
- Do you have an ABN or are you able to obtain one?
3) About your practice:
- Are you an independent artist?
- Do you have over 5 years experience in Community Arts and Cultural Development or community-engaged practice?
Are you able to commit to working on the project part-time for two years?
If you answer YES TO ALL OF THE ABOVE - great news - you’re eligible to apply for the Practice in Community program!
If not, that’s okay - it just means this program isn’t the right fit for your location right now.
