About Regional Scribes
REGIONAL SCRIBES IS AN ONLINE PROGRAM FOR YOUNG WRITERS AND STORYTELLERS AGED 18–25 LIVING IN REGIONAL AND REMOTE AUSTRALIA.
PRESENTED BY REGIONAL ARTS AUSTRALIA WITH SUPPORT FROM SCREEN AUSTRALIA, THE PROGRAM BRINGS TOGETHER EMERGING CREATIVES FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY TO CONNECT, SHARE IDEAS AND DEVELOP THEIR WRITING AND STORYTELLING PRACTICE IN A SUPPORTIVE ONLINE ENVIRONMENT.
Expressions of Interest for the 2026–27 Regional Scribes cohort will open soon.
Regional Scribes is designed for young people at any stage of their creative journey. Whether participants are writing for screen, performance, fiction, poetry, games, digital media or other forms of storytelling, the program provides space to build confidence, explore creative practice and connect with like-minded peers across distance.
To take part in the program, participants must be:
- Between 18–25 years old
- Living in a regional or remote area of Australia
- An Australian citizen or resident for at least the period of the program
- Interested in writing and/or storytelling
Regional Scribes participants will:
- Take part in regular online meet-ups with peers from across the country
- Connect with other young regional and remote writers and storytellers
- Hear from guest speakers working across writing, screen and storytelling
- Access resources and materials to support their creative practice
- Receive support to develop their own creative ideas and professional pathways
Regional Scribes has been thoughtfully designed to be responsive and flexible to the needs of each cohort. Regional Arts Australia is committed to providing access for all participants and will work with selected participants to support equitable participation wherever possible.
