Project Title: The Journey so Far: Artists of the Atherton Tablelands
Samantha is a 5th generation Atherton Tablelander, and emerging storyteller, currently undertaking a journey to find her feet and develop her style. Having experimented across various mediums, Samantha’s curiosity about the world and human condition has fostered a passion to share the stories of others through emotive narratives, using film and photography. Having a deep understanding and respect for the role and power of the storyteller, the responsibility and trust afforded to her during the process of creating authentic representations through her lens, underpins her practice. Despite only having graduated from her senior schooling in 2024, Samantha has already established a strong record of achievement. During her senior schooling Samantha was invited to and attended Queensland’s inaugural Essential Screen Skills Future Filmmakers Camp, as well as completing three subjects through the University of the Sunshine Coast’s Headstart program. Samantha was further bestowed multiple academic awards & achievements including the prestigious Outstanding Cultural Contribution award and Champion: Second School Photography in her local agricultural show, along with a number of still photography accolades. She is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Design, with minors in screen media and photographic practices through the University of the Sunshine Coast.
