Ifa is an emerging Indonesian-Australian illustrator, born and bred in Garramilla/Darwin. Specialising in digital art, she has a passion for character design and storytelling. Under the alias “esse”, she is known online for her personified characters of the Australian towns and cities.

Born to immigrant parents, Ifa has always been drawn to animations and illustration books growing up as a way to connect. To this day she has a strong appreciation for children’s media for its inspiring and nostalgic values. Taking influence from her own experiences and the media she consumes, she aims to capture the beauty in the mundane of Australia's unique lifestyle and culture.

In 2022, Ifa was a recipient of the NXT Gen ARTS grant where she interned with Darwin Visual Arts and held her first solo exhibition, “Into the Top End”. She has previously been involved with LAUNCH Darwin and is also the Darwin winner for 2023 ABC Heywire.
