Shikani Sargent, also known as 'Smessyart' is an emerging visual artist, who’s practice involves analog mediums which explore the emotional and sentimental connection to idea of home.

Her practice involves hand-cutting vintage books, magazines and film from local Sunshine coast photographers to form juxtaposed collages where she then turns these into life size installations, prints and zines.

In the last few months Shikani has been writing insights and poetry which she then shares online and presents at her recent exhibitions.

Although Shikani is predominately a visual artist she wishes to experiment with how she can add more of her poetry into her practice, thus her inspiration to join ‘Regional Scribes’.
