Rosie Sitorus / Artlands 2023
Rosie Sitorus, a musician, spoken word performer, and writer, is a first-generation Australian based in Jambinbirri (Geraldton), WA. She combines her creative practice with her roles as a communications professional and creative project manager for communities in the Midwest and Gascoyne of WA.
Rosie obtained a Law/Arts (Linguistics) degree from the University of Western Australia before relocating to Geraldton in 2013. Since then, she has actively contributed to the local creative community by producing various solo and collaborative works with creatives and cultural figures statewide. Notable among her achievements is her co-writing and performance in the regionally devised and produced work titled "Fat Girls in Bike Shorts" from 2015 to 2018, and her work as musical director of ‘Warralgurniya’, a cross-cultural, award-winning songwriting initiative with Thiinma Elder Peter Salmon.
Beyond her artistic endeavors, Rosie is an avid gardener, permaculturist, and budding potter. She also actively advocates for her community by uniting her creative work, professional pursuits, and personal values to showcases the vibrant and fulfilling nature of life in regional Australia.
