Joo Tan / Artlands 2023
Joo Tan is an early-career curator and arts manager. Joo discovered her passion for the arts at a young age and relocated to Perth to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Arts Management at the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). During which, Joo volunteered for many exhibitions and events, which solidified her interest in the behind-the-scenes work of curating and coordinating exhibitions.
Upon completion of her studies, Joo worked closely with DADAA, a leading arts and health organisation, gaining valuable insights into accessibility and inclusion in the arts. Soon after, Joo relocated to regional WA where she got to experience a different lifestyle and gain valuable experience in overseeing exhibition coordination where she quickly rose through, taking on more responsibilities and moving to the regional curator role.
Joo is dedicated to creating engaging and meaningful exhibitions that challenge and inspire visitors. She has a keen eye for detail and a passion for storytelling. Joo takes pride in her positive mindset and is excited to use her skills to make an impact on the regional arts community in WA and seeks to create art conversations and opportunities for both creators and viewers.
