Brittany Hefren / Regional Scribe
New South Wales/Wiradjuri Country
Brittany is an emerging storyteller and photo-media artist based in Wagga Wagga, NSW. She uses photography and poetry as a tool for practising a disciplined deepening of attention, drawing parallels between patterns observed in nature and human experience.
Sincerity, childlike wonder and awe are characteristic of Brittany’s practice. She is adept at uncovering small stories of beauty in the everyday, often collecting and sharing written and photographic reflections on wisdom and beauty found on her daily walks. She loves to re-work her images through experimental techniques such as photo-collage to explore themes of change, growth & transformation.
Brittany graduated from Charles Sturt University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Creative Industries (Design & Visual Arts), has been a finalist in the Ballarat International Foto Biennale GradFoto Exhibition (2021) and is a co-founder of Nest Studio Collective – a female led collective of Wagga based emerging artists. Her recent exhibition, Listening to Lilacs (2021) and zine Neighbourhood Notes (2022) reflect her outlook that creative processing can bring growth, hope and a new understanding of light in the everyday. She feels extremely blessed to live & work on Wiradjuri land.
