Announcing | New Regional Program Administrators for Tasmania
RANT Arts Ltd. has been announced as the new Regional Program Administrator of the Regional Arts Fund in Tasmania.
Firstly – a little reminder on what constitutes the Regional Arts Fund: An Australian Government program, the Regional Arts Fund (RAF) supports sustainable cultural development in regional, rural and remote communities in Australia. The program is managed by Regional Arts Australia on behalf of the Australian Government and delivered by Regional Program Administrators in each state and territory. This model recognises that regional arts funding needs vary across different states and territories and takes advantage of the specialist knowledge and insight state and territory regional arts organisations have about their regional arts environment.
RANT Arts Ltd is a not-for-profit arts organisation focused upon the needs of Tasmanian artists and arts workers across the state. RANT Arts is a new organisation established in the past 12 months, with a mission to promote and nurture connectivity, advocacy, development, partnerships, regional sustainability, community participation and engagement.
Kitty Taylor and Nathan Tucker, the principal operators of the company, are both highly experienced and capable arts managers. Ms Taylor, a photographer and visual artist, has previous experience as a Regional Arts Fund manager, as well as project management, curation and arts business. Nathan Tucker is a writer and visual artists, with extensive experience as a business and marketing manager, as well as previously holding the position of director of Writer Hire and the community arts organisation Rising Phoenix Studios. RANT will spend the coming weeks connecting with the community about their strategies for 2019, their programming and some amazing projects in the pipeline.
The RAF has most recently been delivered through Arts Tasmania, who have agreed to assist RANT for a 12-month period, to ensure strong governance practice and financial management.
Chair of Regional Arts Australia, Simon Spain, welcomed the announcement of the new Regional Program Administrator.
“Kitty and Nathan of RANT are well known to me and represent all that is good about Regional Arts connectedness. They are respected within Tasmania and are well positioned to service the sector well through the delivery of the Regional Arts Fund,” Simon said. “There is so much going on in the arts in Tasmania at the moment, and Regional Arts Australia is delighted to be able to support new and exciting community arts activity through the Regional Arts Fund.”
RANT Arts Ltd. will commence as the Regional Program Administrator in Tasmania immediately.
