Haneen Mahmood Martin / Regional Scribes Facilitator
Haneen Mahmood Martin is a writer, artist and facilitator born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to a multi-ethnic family. Now living and working in Garramilla/Darwin, Haneen relocated from Adelaide, drawn to the humidity, familiar produce and joint history between South East Asia and the Top End.
Other current roles in her life include being a Creative Producer with Next Wave (VIC), a part of Brown’s Mart’s Artistic Leadership team (NT), and undertaking her MFA (Cultural Leadership) at NIDA. In 2021, Haneen was awarded a Regional Arts Australia Fellowship to work on her first book and a Northern Territory Performing Arts Award.
Haneen is passionate about any work that has any underrepresented voices heard and making art that is accessible for those who do not live in the art world. She believes that we see the world through the different languages we accept and understand, and would love the opportunity to add to your vocabulary.
Her written and visual arts work has been presented nationally and through The Guardian, SBS Voices, Frankie Magazine, InDaily, Northern Territory Writers’ Festival, the Red Dirt Poetry Festival and many more.
In her spare time, Haneen loves watching fridge-restocking videos on TikTok, cooking too much food for friends, and writing to-do lists.
